Nepal Telecom warns consumers about a Christmas gift scam that has gone viral.

Kathmandu.

As a Christmas and New Year gift fraud circulates on Facebook and other social media sites, Nepal Telecom (NTC) has formally issued a statement to increase awareness.

You may have received a message with a link that contains “Nepal telecom” in its URL if you now use Facebook or Messenger in particular. That’s what we’re discussing here. Actually, it’s a scam and a blank message. Unfortunately, it’s currently becoming viral on Facebook and probably other online sites as well. Don’t click on the link, please.

The company has asked consumers to be on alert for a fraud that is currently going on on social media. According to the mentioned case, Nepal Telecom is giving away presents and cash worth up to Rs 5000 in honor of the approaching Christmas and New Year 2025 (Gregorian year). There aren’t any such campaigns being run by NTC.

There are scams everywhere. Some are obvious and easy to spot, but others, like the SIM Swap Scam, are difficult for the uninformed to understand. Unfortunately, a lot of people have already been tricked by the most recent Christmas gift scam, which has forced the company to issue an official statement.
